Gabion Sint-Idesbald
These apartment complexes were built in 2014 between the beach and sand dunes in Sint-Idesbald. In order to protect their gabions from maritime corrosion, abrasion by sea sand and UV radiation from the bright light at the sea side, the architect did not choose for a traditional powder coating, but for a high-quality 400 µm thick Abcite® coating that is applied through fluidized bed coating. This technique, in which the metal is dipped in a fluidized bed of thermoplastic powder, ensures a non-porous coating.
