North bridge in Kortrijk plasticized with Abcite®
These lighting elements in the bridge over the Leie in Kortrijk are in constant contact with UV loads, rain, stone chips, dirt and, in winter, road salt.
Initially, the architect requested a four-layer wet paint system here. Alternatively, we pushed forward one thick layer of Abcite® applied to pre-heated steel, without any additional protective galvanizing between the steel and the coating. The bridge has been in service since 2010 and upon inspection seven years later, there was no corrosion or damage to the coating anywhere.
And upon inspection 7 and 13 years later, there was no corrosion or damage anywhere.
